Mr. Acevedo developed A's Academic and College Counseling CBO, INC based on over 40 years of experience in education and social services. Throughout his career, he has worked with children and young adults in various roles, including AS A social worker, employment counselor, social agency manager, teacher's aide, middle school social studies educator, residential child care worker, college youth community outreach worker, community college admissions counselor, and FOR 23 YEARS AS A MORRISTOWN HIGH SCHOOL guidance counselor.

A’s Academics And Counseling Program aims to empower motivated students from mostly non-traditional and low- to middle-income backgrounds to realize their full potential as scholars, leaders, and human beings.
 

Rooted in over four decades of educational and social-service expertise, We maintain a high standard of excellence and uphold unwavering belief in every student, holding high expectations for each one. We work to provide equitable access to college opportunities for motivated students from diverse backgrounds.
 

Through personalized guidance, rigorous academic support, and sustained mentorship, we challenge students to strive, excel, and grow in the classroom and beyond. In tandem, we assist them personally in navigating the ebbs and flows of life.
 

Our mission is to invest in their lifelong success, preparing them not only for college admission but for purposeful, fulfilling lives shaped by confidence, resilience, diligence, and opportunity.

WHAT WE DO

Support students with personalized academic tutoring across core subjects, at no cost.

Guide students in selecting rigorous coursework, including Honors and AP classes, to strengthen academic readiness.

Tutoring

Provide hands-on support with college applications, essay development, and identifying best-fit schools.

 

Help students secure scholarships and financial aid through targeted guidance.

 

Expose students to college environments through guided campus tours and access to college-prep programs.

College Preparation

Pair students with dedicated mentors who offer one-on-one support through academic, personal, and family challenges.

 

Encourage leadership growth through community service, volunteer opportunities, and school or local leadership roles.
